DEATH ESTHER MAIER PARTICULARLY SAD ONE
Popular Young Woman Dies at St. Luke's Hospital last Friday
-----------------------------------------------
The host of friends of Miss Esther Maier were shocked last Friday when the news was received that she had died at St. Luke's hospital at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. Funeral services were held from the Presbyterian church Tuesday afternoon at 1:30, conducted by Rev. Harry Glenn Finney, following a brief service at the Maier home. A large number assembled to pay a last tribute of respect to her memory. The interment was in Oak Shade cemetery.
Born March 1, 1896, she was graduated from the Marion high school with the class of 1918, after which she attended business college. A week ago last Wednesday she was taken to the hospital for an operation and was getting along splendidly until two days before her death when an unexpected turn for the worse was noted. She was a member of the Presbyterian church and is survived by her mother, Mrs. Caroline Marier, 1235 Twelfth street, three sisters, Miss Ruth Maier, at home, Mrs. William Dobbs of Monticello and Mrs. Carl Michel of Marion, and two brothers.
