Maynard Franklin Sies, the little son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Sies, died Saturday evening at six o'clock. The child was born July 14, 1910, and had endeared himself in the hearts of all who came to know him. In the middle of last October he received an injury to his spine from which Pott's disease developed. This caused paralysis of the lower limbs. The funeral was held Monday afternoon at three o'clock at the residence in the flat at the rear of the Bidwell house on Tenth street. Rev. E.J. Lockwood of Cedar Rapids who, a few years ago succeeded in getting a Carnegie award for Mr. Fred Sies for an act of courage, conducted the funeral services and was assisted by Rev. A.T. Bishop of Marion. Mrs. V.G. Shumack and Mrs. S.N. Parsons sang at the funeral. The interment was in Oak Shade cemetery. Among those who came from a distance for the funeral are Mr. and Mrs. B.F. Sies, grandparents of the child, Davenport; Mr. and Mrs. G.O. Haines, and Mr. and Mrs. C.J. Haines, Urbana, Iowa, Miss Margie Sies, Davenport and Mr. and Mrs. C.H. Sies, Davenport
