Mrs. Fred (Emma) Jewell, 81, Cedar Rapids, died June 18 following a short illness. She had been a life long resident of the Cedar Rapids area.

She was born Jan. 5, 1890 on a farm near Vinton, and was married to D. Fredrick Jewell Nov. 1, 1911, at Vinton. She and her husband ran Jewell Grocery in Cedar Rapids.

Memorial services were held June 21 at Cedar Memorial Chapel, Cedar Rapids, with burial in Cedar Memorial park cemetery.

Surviving are 2 sons, Dallas A. Jewell, Cedar Rapid and Ray P. Jewell, Mechanicsville; 2 daughters, Mrs. Ed Parsons, Tipton, with whom she had made her home the past year, and Mrs. Cecil Courtney, Marion; a sister, Mrs. Ed Hilton, Vinton; a brother, Ray Parmater, Vinton, and 4 grandchildren.
