November 28, 1911DEATH OF A VETERAN
At the home of his daughter, Mrs. L.F. HALPIN, 807 C Avenue West, last evening occurred the death of Mr. Charles E. Lilly a veteran of the Civil War and a pioneer resident of this city.
Death came to him after several years of patient suffering the past six seven (sic) years he had been ailing. The past two weeks his condition had been critical and last evening at 5:40 the end came peacefully.
Charles E. Lilly was born July 11,1844 at Lancaster, Ohio. He came to this city in 1859. He served in Company H Twenty-second Iowa Infantry during the Civil War.
He is survived by his wife and three children. The children are Frank D. Lilly, James D. Lilly, and Mrs. L.F. Halpin.
The funeral will be held Wednesday and the interment will be at Linwood Cemetery. Other funeral arrangements have not been completed and will be announced later.
Note - Charles Lilly's widow was Anna Ara CAIN Lilly (1848-1934). He was preceded in death by daughter Calla Lilly BORGHART (1869-1903).
