George Drummey dies at 93

George William Drummey, 93, 614 Third St. N.W., Cedar Rapids, died at 5:40 Wednesday at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. William Sullivan officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 435 32nd St. Drive S.E., Cedar Rapids. Prayers for a Christian wake will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Behner Funeral Home with visitation afterward. A memorial has been established to Parkview Care Center.

Drummey was born Oct. 15, 1893 in Mount Carroll, Ill., the son of John and Ellen Gilfeather Drummey. He married Adah M. Sheppard Aug. 16, 1919 in Iowa City. He served with Company E-313 Ammunition Train in the Army during World War I, and was plant operator of the Cedar Rapids Water Department for 25 years before retiring. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and a life member of the American Legion, Hanford Post, both of Cedar Rapids.

Surviving are his wife, and a son, Clifford Drummey, both of Fairfield; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a sister, Harriett Barger, Cedar Rapids. A son, three brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
