Archie D. Hartson, 64, of 2247 C. St. SW, died monday [3/4/1974] following a long illness.
A Cedar Rapids resident 53 years, he was born June 24, 1909, at Madison, S.D., and was married to Edna E. Knight, May 6, 1931, at Cedar Rapids. He had been employed by Iowa Steel and Iron Works.
Surviving are his wife; five sons, Ernest, Eveard, Richard and Darwin, all of Cedar Rapids, and Archie, Marquette; a brother, Eveard, Stranton, Calif.; four sisters, Gladys Ebsen, Cedar Rapids, Alta Rawson, Cedar Rapids, Vera Hilton, Gary, Ind., and Celia Camp, Stone City; two half-sisters, Byna and Linda, both of Cedar Rapids; three half-brothers, Lloyd, Marengo, Johny, Seattle, and Orlie, Cedar Rapids; his stepmother, Marie Hartson, Cedar Rapids; 23 grandchildren; one great-grandchild and eight step-grandchildren.
Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday in St. Wenceslaus Catholic church by Mercy Hospital Chaplain Louis Gustillo. Burial: Cedar Memorial. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial funeral home by the Rev. Clarence Frana of St. Wenceslaus church. Friends may call after 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and until noon Wednesday. The casket will not be opened at the church.
