John Hartson, 1227 Twentieth ave. SW, a Cedar Rapids resident for 40 years and a retired farmer, died in a Cedar Rapids nursing home at 9:55 a.m. Saturday [10/29/1955] following a long illness. Born Aug. 18, 1870, at New Hampton, he was married to Marie Pagel on Feb. 17, 1935, in Cedar Rapids. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are six daughters, Mrs. Hubert Ebsen, Mrs. Hugh Rawson, Marie Bina Hartson, Linda Hartson, all of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Vera Hilton of Gary, Ind., and Mrs. Joseph Camp of Marion; five sons, Archie, John, Orlie and Lloyd Hartson, all of Cedar Rapids, and Eveard Hartson of Belle Flower, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Bina Bender of Clinton, and Mrs. George Tubbs of Alpha; two brothers, Ernie Hartson of Fredericksburg and Willie Hartson of Waconia; 26 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. Services will be conducted in the Turner Chapel at time to be announced later. Burial will be in Linwood cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel after 6 p.m. Saturday.
