Joseph G. Camp, a former resident of 240 Eighth Street, Marion, passed away at 1:30 A.M. Wednesday, February 21, 1968 in a Cedar Rapids hospital. He was born the son of Nicademus and Clarisa Ann Vansant Camp on July 5, 1889 at Woodberry, Indiana. On October 18, 1929 he was married to Celia Hartson Mottinger at Watertown, South Dakota. Mr. Camp was employed at the Rock Island Railroad for forty years until his retirement in 1959. He lived in Marion for thirty years until moving to the Stone City vicinity eight years ago. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Marion and the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen of America, Local No. 1. of Cedar Rapids. Mr. Camp had served as President and Secretery-Treasurer of the Union.
Surviving ar this wife; five sons, Louis Mottinger of Stone City, Gilbert Camp, Franklin Camp and Richard Camp of Marion and Dale Camp of Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Mrs. Rodney (Shirley) Thompson of Marion and Mrs. James (Carole) Ott of Indianapolis; fifteen grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Lena Coats of Indianapolis. He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth.
Services: 1:30 P.M. Friday, February 23, 1968 at the Murdoch Chapel in Marion, Iowa. Cunducted by Rev. L. B. Sprankle. Organist: Mrs. Douglas Horner. Internment: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.Source: Cedar Rapids Gazette
