CENTENNIAL ANNIVERSARY

The Safely family, by the way are quite numerous, in this country, held a Centennial Anniversary at the residence of John G. Safely, Sr. who lives about four miles west of town, on Saturday last. The occasion being the one-hundredth anniversary of the birth day of Mrs. Isabella Safely, his mother, who was born in Dunbar, Scotland, Nov. 11, 1771.

The children present on this occasion and their respective ages are as follows: Mrs. Nancy Hogg, 73 years, Thomas G. Safely, 69 years, John G. Safely, 63 years, Andrew F. Safely, 60 years, Mrs. Kennedy F. Brown, 57 years. Mrs. Safely was the mother of nine children, and has thirty-five grandchildren, thirty-seven great grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren now living.

For the above items we are indebted to Maj. John J. Safely.

We are assured it was an occasion long to be remembered by the family and friends present. We understand that a full report of this anniversary, with the speeches and addresses made on this occasion, will soon be prepared for publication, when are readers will learn more about the family history &c.
