Alexander M. Lippisch (1894-1976)
Dr. Alexander M. Lippisch was born in Munich, Germany, on November 2, 1894. He died in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on February 11, 1976 and his body was cremated.
Dr. Lippisch married Gertrude Knoblauch in Germany on May 26, 1939. He served in the German army in World War I from 1915 to 1918. During World War II he was employed in the Messerschmitt factory as an aeronautical engineer. In 1943 he was awarded a doctoral degree in aeronautical engineering from the University of Heidelberg. After World War II ended he came to the United States to work at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. From 1950 to 1964 he was employed at Collins Radio Company in Cedar Rapids.
