In Response To: Re: Fowler surname (Darline Fowler Smith)

I am also researching a Fowler family in Iowa.

My Fowlers originated in Stokes St. Milborough, Shropshire, England.

John Roberts Fowler and Harriet Hammond parents of: William Fowler bn. 1830; John bn. 1933; Edwin bn. 1835.

John Roberts Fowler and his second wife, Ann Maylett, parents of: Emma bn. 1844, James bn. 1847, Herbert Elijah (Eli) bn. 1851.

In 1853, the family traveled to the U.S. (aboard the Camillus from Liverpool, England, to New Orleans, LA, then on to Keokuk, Lee Co., IA). The family pretty much stayed in Lee County(Montrose/Keokuk area), for many generations to follow.

This William Fowler is my gg-grandfather, and I have some information about his children (as far as I know there were 11 of them) -- Celestia Arbrailia (Slater), Luella Jane (Smith), George William, John W., James E., Frank Warren, Mary Hettie (Schevers), Albert Wesley (my g-grandfather), Arthur Ely, Charles, Viola May.

If these are the Fowlers you are interested in, let me know, and I would love to share info.

Brenda Carlson
