Yes this is correct. He is listed as John Adams age 2 in the 1950 census. There are also instances where he is listed as John Q. Adams is later census data. John Q. Adams (b.1848 d.1936) was married to a Manerva Adams and they are both buried in the Rockport Cemetary in Malvern, AR. Their son Thomas Erwin Adams (b. 1878 Kane, Ill. d.1956 Shawnee, OK) shows up on many records with different spelling/alias such as Erwin Adams, Irving Adams, T.E. Adams, etc. He is the father of my later grandfather Ford H. Adams(b. 1924 Malvern, AR. d.2013 in Meeker, OK). My grandfather's name is inaccurately listed as "Fard" Adams on the 1930 census. Ford Adams is the father of my dad David Adams (1954 - Present).
One thing I still have yet to discover is where the Native American lineage came into the Adams family. I've been told that Thomas Erwin Adams and his brothers all had somewhat dark complections, and pictures of my grandfather as a younger man during WWII also show this trait. My guess is that one of these Adams married a Native American woman and I think it would have to either be Minerva Adams (John's wife) or possibly Maria Adams (William's wife). However, the fact the Maria Adams was originally Maria Forbes makes my second theory a bit less likely.
