Birdwood Keokuk history

BIRDWOOD

Hello,

I am emailing you from Westminster Maryland. We just purchased an interesting old Italianate home in Keokuk and will be moving there as soon as we can finish up business here. It is located at 507 N 4th Street, and sports a brass plaque that reads "Birdwood 1855". I am trying to find any history about this house and who built it. Can you please direct me? Any clues will be treasured! I would love to write any descendants of families who have lived in the home. I had thought perhaps the builder was named Birdwood, but I cannot locate any mention of that surname except for two instances of it... a British Field Marshall who served at Gallipolli in WWII, and an Anna Birdwood who married a James Fox in 1854 in Cornwall England. I cannot seem to find anyone of that surname in the US. Perhaps the builder was not named Birdwood at all.

SO looking forward to your reply!
Sincerely,
Rebecca Everett
