Bill, I am not surprised that you are confused by my query re: Alexander Breckenridge and Jemima Wright. Here is my documentation for Jemima's m. to Alexander Breckenridge: "Marriage License Certificate," taken from the Microfilm records at the State Historical Lib., Des Moines, IA, Rec 109: "Alexander W. Breckenridge to Jemima Wright. License issued April 27, 1840, Territory of Iowa, Lee County. By notice of a license issued from the Clerk of the District Court of the County aforesaid at Fort Madison." In addition: "I solemnized the rites of matrimony between Alexander W. Breckenridge and Miss Jemima Wright on the 4th day of May A. D. 1840." (Signed) John Spain, Justice of the Peace.
I also have documentation for the marriage of Alexander M. Wright to Louisa S. Breckenridge, dau of Alexander W. Breckenridge.
