Hi Tim,

Ellen Shumate and I had common ancestors, Nephi SHUMATE's parents, Daniel and Jane (Van Ausdall) SHUMATE, which makes Ellen my great grand aunt I believe.:<)

I have very little on Ellen and her husband Samuel B. GRAHAM, just her birth Abt. 1850 in IA, and she was the daughter of Daniel & Jane SHUMATE rather than their son Nephi.

I have nothing on Samuel. I have them with one daughter, Gladys Angeline SHUMATE who married a Walter O. CRANDALL I believe, and had at least one son, William?

Please share what you have on the descendants of Nephi and Julia SHUMATE and Samuel and Ellen GRAHAM. Suspicion she died young because a Gladys (age 5) and a Frederick (age 8) were living with Nephi and his next wife, Mary, up in Shelby Co, IA in 1880. His mother Jane (Van Ausdall) SHUMATE OMAN was a neighbor (widow) living with her sister Sarah ROUNDY and family. All were LDS (Reorgn) by then.

I have a great deal of data on Nephi SHUMATE's ancestors if you're interested.

Do you descend from Ellen, Tim?
