Ruth Breen
Ruth Elizabeth Breen, 89, Fort Madison, died at 10:55 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at the Fort Madison Care Center.

Born July 16, 1897, at Kirksville, Mo., she was the daughter of John J. and Martha F. Guyer Miller. She married Clarence Robert Breen, Dec. 9, 1913, in Ft. Madison; he died May 31, 1962.

She had been a resident of Fort Madison for 86 years. She had worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition during World War II and had managed the Mode O'Day Store in Fort Madison for several years. She was a past member of the VFW Auxiliary, War Mothers, Business and Professional Women, the Hospital Auxiliary, and the Margaret Botome Circle of the King's Daughters and Sons. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Fort Madison.

Surviving are one son, William Breen, Fort Madison; four daughters, Mrs. Vivian(Robert)Manka, Ft. Madison, Mrs. Marjorie(Clayton)Davis, Rock Island, Ill., Mrs. Betty Jane Sallen, Casa Grande, Ariz., and Mrs. Barbara Joan(Norman)Lester, Riverside, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Mayme(Milton)Meyers, Sacramento, Calif., and Mrs. Jennie Foster, Des Moines; 30 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.

Friends may call after 11 a.m. Tuesday at the King-Lynk Funeral Home, Fort Madison. The family will meet friends from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home

Services for Mrs. Breen will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the King-Lynk Funeral home with the Rev. James Bridges officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for the First Baptist Church and the King's Daughters and Sons.
