DEATH OF AN OLD CITIZEN

Henry Obermann, Sr., of Fort Madison Passes Away, Regretted by All

Henry Obermann Sr., one of the old settlers of Lee County, died at his home in Fort Madison Monday night at 11:23 o'clock. He was seventy-six years, eight months and three days old. He was born in Hesse Darmstadt, Germany, in 1822, and came to Iowa in 1846.
He is survived by his wife, Mary E. Obermann, and five children, three daughters and two sons: Mrs. Christian Locke of Keokuk, Mrs. Charles Beringer of Fort Madison, Mrs. Dan Henry of Fort Madison, Henry Obermann, Jr., of Summitville, and C. W.Obermann of Yarmouth, Ia. He also leaves three brothers and one sister. John Obermann of Burlington, Rev. Charles Obermann of Muscatine, Fred Obermann of Pleasant Grove, Ia., and Mrs Henry Beck of Danville, Ia.
Mr. Obermann had many friends all over the county, and was a German-American who took a deep interest in the development of this country. His bereaved family has the sincere sympathy of all who knew him.
