---At 1 o'clock Thursday afternoon occurred the death of Alexander McGruder, a highly respected colored citizen of Keokuk. At Mt. Pleasant, Ia., about twenty years ago, Mr. McGruder received a sunstroke which is said to be the result of his death. He was taken to the insane asylum about five months ago, where he grew steadily worse, until it finally resulted in his death. Prior to his death he was bedfast for a period of one month. He was forty-three years old the 25th of last December, and was a native of Virginia. He and his family moved to Keokuk fifteen years ago from Galesburg, Ill., and he has acted in the capacity of blacksmith in this city for a number of years. The body will arrive in the city this evening at 7:30o'clock. Those left to mourn his untimely end are Mrs. Amelia, Ambrose, Algernon, Ira and Lilly McGruder.
