Sept. 7, 1898--Unknown newspaper published in Lee County, Iowa

Gregory, Mo--Sept.6---Special---

Died August 29, three miles northwest of Gregory's Landing, Mo., little Goldie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Gatton. Death came swiftly and without warning to the family for they were at dinner. The father had gone to Canton on business. The little one seemed apparently well, only teething, for she ate her dinner, and was laughing and playing with the other children when suddenly all exclaimed, "look at Goldie!" The mother took her up and in five minutes she was dead. A doctor had been called who pronounced the cause of death was a spasm. A dispatch was sent to Mr. Gatton at Canton, telling him of the sad news, but he had already left Canton for home and did not hear until he arrived at Gregory. Friends sympathise with the family in their grief. Little Goldie was a bright child of her age and will be missed by her parents and five sisters who survive her. Her age was one year , one month, and twenty-five days.
