W. S. Wagoner died at Fort Madison Wednesday morning. He was brother in law of Mrs. Leonard Matless of this city, and of Miss Ingalls. He had many friends here, who will be shocked to hear of his sudden death.

Funeral services were held yesterday morning at 10 o’clock from the Baptist Church in Fort Madison, with Rev. Gent officiating. The pallbearers were N. C. Roberts, Albert Smith, P. G. Hitch, Charles Fitch, Harry Perks and F. C. Ottowa. Claypoole Lodge Mason had charge had charge of the services at the grave.

The Fort Madison Democrat had the following obituary notice:

“Finnis” was written at the conclusion of a noble life, well spent, this morning at 10:40, when Wilson Stanley Wagoner passed away at the family home, 1033 Second Street, as a consequence of the effects of a stroke of apoplexy which he suffered last Saturday.

By the death of Mr. Wagoner the city sustains a loss which is not measureable in words alone. His sterling worth, which caused all men to love and venerate him, gained for Mr. Wagoner a high place in this community, and many eyes grew moist today as the news of his death was spread over the city.

Mr. Wagoner was a member of the Baptist Church, which he joined immediately after coming to this city. Ever constant in his worship, he took a prominent part in the affairs of the church of which he was a member. The deceased was also prominent in fraternal circles, having been a member of all Masonic orders in this city as well as the Shrine of Davenport, Iowa.
