The death of Mrs. Catherine Terese McCaffrey occurred at noon today at her home, 922 Palean Street, as a result of a third paralytic stroke which she suffered a week ago today. She has been quite ill since that time and never once rallied during this week. Mrs. McCaffrey has been in poor health since last February, when she was a victim of three first paralytic strokes.

Mrs. McCaffrey has lived in this city for the last twenty-five years and is well known here, where she has made many friends among the people with who she was associated in her church and neighborhood. She was the mother of ten children, nine of whom are still living at the present time, and it was to these children, her husband and her home she gave her life. She was a member of St. Peter’s Church and also a member of the Rosary Society and the Ladies of Charity.

She was born in 1848 in Syracuse, New York. When she was four years old she came west with her parents to Dubuque, Iowa, and lived in the northern part of the state since that time until her coming to Keokuk. Some years of her life were spent at Lansing, Iowa, and she was married to Neill J. McCaffrey in 1868 at Wexford, eight miles from Lansing. She was Miss Catherine McGeraughty before her marriage. Mr. and Mrs. McCaffrey celebrated their golden wedding anniversary one year ago.

The survivors are her husband and nine children; Mary E.; P. N. McCaffrey, of Fresno, California; Hugh J., of this city; Michael V. of Everett, Wash.; Frank P., of Red Wing, Minn.; Mrs. Clyde G. Alton,; Mrs. George L. Immegart, of Hannibal, Mo.; Mark A., of Des Moines; and Cornelia T. of Keokuk.
