Transcription from the April 8, 1985 Fort Madison, Ia., Democrat, page 2.
Mrs. Edna M. Newberry, 87, a resident at the Fort Madison Nursing Care Center died at 4 p.m., Saturday, April 6, at the center. She had been in failing health for several years but death was unexpected.
Mrs. Newberry was born April 3, 1898, in Fort Madison where she was a lifelong resident. She was employed for many years as a secretary at the former Fort Madison Creamery. She was of the Christian faith.
On Nov. 9, 1934, at Keokuk, she was married to Wilford Newberry, who preceded her in death in 1957.
She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Ted (Daisy) Wentz of Fort Madison and five nieces.
She was preceded in death by three brothers [Roy Lee b~1901, Donald b~1906 and and an unnamed child] and three sisters [Ida or Lillie b~1893, and two other unnamed children]. Her parents were August and Almeda Anderson Olson.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Barr Memorial Chapel with the Rev. L. Duane Churchman officiating. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery.
A memorial is being established. Contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
