Wilford A. Newberry, 69, died suddenly at 8 a.m. today at his home, 1811 Avenue E.
A retired employee of the W. A. Sheaffer Pen Co., Mr. Newberry was born Dec 24, 1887, at Montrose. He spent all of his life in Lee county and had lived in Fort Madison for the past 40 years. On Nov. 9, 1929, at Keokuk, he married Edna Olson, who survives. He was a member of the Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and was a member of the armed forces during World War I.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a brother, Lane K. Newberry, Downers Grove, Ill.; a sister, Mrs. Thomas Evans, Fort Madison; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles M. and Jennie A. Bellamy Newberry; and by two brothers, Glen W. and Ralph B. Newberry.
The body is at Clements' where final rites are pending.
