Mrs. Ruby Patterson of Boulevard Road Dies in Hospital
Mrs. Ruby Patterson of 261 Boulevard Road died at 6:35 am today in Graham hospital where she had been a patient for a week. S he had been in failing health for two or three years.
Born January 9, 1889 in Brookville, Iowa, she was the daughter of Wilbur and Belle Greenwood Ireland. She had lived in Keokuk for 45 years.
In 1912 she married Harry M. Patterson who died in 1938.
During World War II she served as a Red Cross Volunteer Nurse’s Aide and later was employed as a nurse’s aid.
She was a member of the Methodist church, the Sunshine Chairman of its W. S. C. S. , a member of the Eastern Star, White Shrine, American Legion Auxiliary, War Dads’ Auxiliary and Toastmistress club.
Surviving are two sons, Robert W. of Lake Bluff, Ill and Donald of Keokuk, three sisters, Mrs. Carl Adams of Keokuk, Mrs. Frank Bradfield of Lynnhaven, Fla and Mrs. Maude Baker of Fairfield, three brothers, Charles W. Ireland, Roland J. and Fred Ireland all of Fairfield and a granddaughter. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a daughter in infancy, a daughter Mrs. Betty Hochmuth in 1944, a sister Mrs. Nell Anderson and two brothers, Judy and Frank Ireland.
The body will remain in the Schmidt Memorial Home until noon Sunday when it will be taken to the Trinity church for service at 2 o’clock with the Rev. Roy W. Pfaff officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
