O. W Swanson dies suddenly this morning. (Hand Written: Oct 30, 1935)
Prominent Brick Contractor and life long resident of Keokuk is stricken at his home at an early hour this morning.
Oscar W. Swanson, one of the foremost contractors as well as a lifelong resident of Keokuk died very suddenly at his home, 1217 Blondeau Street this morning at 12:25 o'clock.
Mr. Swanson had been enjoying his customary health, had attended a meeting last night and on his return home apparently felt as well as usual. He was sticken with a very sudden attack, however, from which he failed to recover.

Generous to others.
Known and regarded with the highest esteem throughout the entire section, the unanticipate passing of this substantial citizen could scarcely be credited by the community this morning. A brick contractor of great prominence, he was
responsible for some of the finest building in the city and was looked upon as a business man of unquestioned integrity and a workman of great ability.
Friendly and generous to a fault his absence will be severely felt by many for whome he went to great pains to find employment in which they could take pride.

Born in Keokuk
The son of Mr and Mrs. Andrew Swanson, he was born in Keokuk on September 13, 1875 and spent his entire life here, establishing through his splendid personal qualities innumerable friendships which he treasured highly.
On Nov 17, 1903 he was united in marriage with Nettie Haggerty. Two children were born to this union. Mrs. Swanson preceded him in death May 14, 1928.
On Jan 7, 1930 he married Mrs. Nora Foulkes who survives him.
He was a member of the Trinity M.E. Church and was fraternally affiliated with the Elks Lodge.
