Marie Horsey

Marie Horsey, 94, of Farmington, died at 11:02 a.m. Friday, Oct. 6, 2000, at Donnellson Health Center in Donnellson.

Born May 6, 1906, in Minden, La., she was the daughter of Marcus and Mary Price Carter. On July 25, 1927, she married James O. Horsey in Minden. He died Aug. 30, 1980.

Mrs. Horsey farmed with her husband and had worked for Donnellson Manor Care Center.

She graduated as valedictorian of her high school class in Serepta, La. She loved cooking, crocheting, knitting, gardening and especially fishing.

Survivors include two sons, James Harold Horsey of Farmington and Tom Horsey of Keokuk; three daughters, Mae Conn of Montrose, Beverly Stevens of Farmington and Suzie Easter of Donnellson; 22 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, one granddaughter, one sister and five brothers.

Visitation will begin after noon Sunday at Hofbauer Funeral Home in Donnellson, where the family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Horsey will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Hofbauer Funeral Home, with the Rev. Richard Bentzinger officiating. Burial will be in Croton Cemetery in Farmington.

A memorial has been established for Croton Cemetery.
