A great deal has been said about the death of Mrs. Orin Clemens, as she was the sister-in-law of Mark Twain. W. T. Stotts and daughter, Miss Lizzie Stotts, have just returned from Keokuk where they attended the funeral. Mr. Stotts and Mrs. Clemons were brother and sister and it was just as much an honor for Mrs. Clemons to be a sister to W. T. Stotts as it was for her to be related to Mark Twain. Mr. Stotts is one of the “old school gentlemen” and at the age of 74 years is very active and bright. He may be found in his office every day where he has an insurance agency and acts as notary public. He has a very acceptably filled the offices of postmaster, justice and mayor of Monroe. In politics he is a Jackson Democrat.
