March 13, 1947 - Algona Upper Des Moines - St. Joe: Jacob Zeller, 83, was laid to rest last Monday, March 3, after funeral services at the Immaculate Conception Catholic church at Watertown. S D. Rev. Frank Illg of Mallard, Rev. Nicholas Becker, Royal, both nephews of the deceased, and Rev. Mardian, Watertown, officiated. Burial was in the Catholic cemetery. Pallbearers were six grandsons: Alfred Thilges, Bernard Thilges and Norbert Thilges, all of St. Joe; Robert Zeller of Waverly, Minn.; Ralph Butler and Reuben Butler of Waubay, S.D. Mr. Zeller passed away February 28 at his home at Watertown after a week's illness.

Jacob Zeller was born April 10, 1863, at Wheaton, Illinois. On Feb. 19, 1889, he was married to Mary Becker in St. Joseph's church, St. Joe, by Rev. J.B. Zigrang. They had shortly before his death observed their 58th wedding anniversary with their children all present for the occasion. They lived in this vicinity for some time before moving to Minnesota and later to South Dakota.

Mr. Zeller is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Zeller; two daughters and two sons, Mrs. Nick Thilges, St. Joe. Mrs. Edward Butler, Waubay, Philip of Waverly, Minn., and George of Watertown, as well as 19 grandchildren and three great grandchildren and many other relatives.

Two daughters preceded him in death. Relatives from this area attending funeral services were Mrs. Nick Thilges, Marcella Thilges, Alfred Thilges, Norbert Thilges, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Thilges, Bernice Stattleman, Anton Becker, Math Becker, Tom Becker, Laurence Becker, Ray Becker, Jake Becker, Rev. Nicholas Becker, Rev. Frank Illg, Mr. and Mrs. John Zeller, Arthur Illg, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Droessler, Mrs. H.W. Ziemet, Mrs. George Diers and Mrs. William Haglund.
