Aug 13, 1936 - West Bend Journal - Not for some time has anything saddened this community so much as the death of Mrs. Henry Wolfe which occurred in Mercy hospital, Fort Dodge, on Wednesday, August, 5. Mrs. Wolfe had always been in good health until the past spring. She revived from this attack of gall stones until Friday, July 24, when she again became sick. The following Wednesday she was taken to the hospital and she underwent an operation on Monday, August 3. She rallied from the effects of the operation and was getting along very well, but pneumonia developed and she passed. Jerry Schutter went to Fort Dodge to got the remains.

The funeral was held at Sts. Peter & Paul's Catholic church Saturday morning. Rev. P.M. Dobberstein had charge of the services here. Interment was in the cemetery at St. Joe where Rev. Theobald had charge of the services at the grave. The funeral was very largely attended. The pall hearers were Lawrence Blenz of New Hampton, Albert and Ralph Mertz of Ottosen, Raymond Ruden of North Buena Vista, Aloysius Gassmann of Petersburg, Ia., and Leroy Klepper of West Bend.

Margaret Ruden was born at Holy Cross, Iowa, on May 17, 1887, and was thus 49 years of age at her last birthday. Her mother, who is 82 years of age, is still living. Her father passed away about four years ago. Miss Ruden grew to young womanhood at Holy Cross, and was married to Henry Wolfe at that place October 12, 1909. After their marriage, they moved to Bode where they lived four years, and from there they moved to near Ottosen where they lived three years. For the past twenty years they have resided on a farm east of West Bend.

Ten children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Wolfe, the youngest being four years old. They are: Elizabeth, William, Mike, Agatha, Francis, Nicholas, Rita Jane, Leora, Mary June, and Margaret.

Besides her husband and children, Mrs. Wolfe leaves four sisters and five brothers to mourn her death. The sisters are: Mrs. Anna Elenz of New Hampton: Mrs. Frank Gassmann of North Buena Vista, Ia; Mrs. Wm. Pfeiler and Mrs. Andrew Klein of Durango, Ia. The brothers are: Pete, Mike and Joe of Holy Cross; Nick of Zwingle; and Frank of Masonville.

The large crowd at her funeral attested to the fact that Mrs. Wolfe was held in high esteem by her neighbors, friends and relatives. She was a good neighbor. She was ever loyal to the Catholic faith and gave as much of her time as was possible with her large family to work in church circles. By her devotion to her family and church, by her love for all that was true and good, by her faithfulness in every engagement, by her kindliness and loyalty, Mrs. Wolfe won her place in the hearts of her friends. As wife and mother this husband and these children know how faithful she was in their hearts she is enshrined forever. The Journal extends sincere sympathy to the family in their great loss.
