Aug 16, 1945 - Emmetsburg Reporter - Henry Wolfe, farmer east of West Bend for 23 years, died at 1 a.m. Monday at his home. He had been in failing health four months with an incurable malady with complications.
Mr. Wolfe, born on a farm near Bode, May 12, 1877, had a grade school education, and on Oct. 12, 1909, was married to Margaret Ruden at Holy Cross, Dubuque county. The couple made their first home on a farm near Bode, later moved to a farm in Garfield township. Mrs. Wolfe died nine years ago.
Ten children survive: Mrs. George Bass, West Bend; Willam, Leora, June, Margaret at home; Mrs. Paul Ludwig, Whittemore; Francis, West Bend; Mrs Raymond Reiland, Eagle Grove; Pfc. Mike Wolfe, Schick hospital, Clinton; Cpl. Nicholas Wolfe, enroute home.
Surviving also are a brother John, Milwaukee; a siser, Mrs. Nick Ruden, near Dubuque; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the West Bend Catholic church Thursday with Father P.I. Dobberstein in charge and pall bearers will be nephews. Mr. Wolfe's brother came a week ago and other relatives expected will come from Remsen, Dubuque, New Hampton, and South Dakota.
