Nov 8, 1918 - Bode Bugle - John P. Von Bank, one of our prosperous farmers living 4 miles north of Bode, died at the new sanitarium at Prarie Du Chinn, WI Sunday Nov 3, where he went for treatment for kidney and stomach trouble, but was taken with the influenza which caused his death. He was 33 years old.
He was born in Kossuth county and leaves a wife, 4 brothers, and 5 sisters to mourn his loss. The body was brought to Algona Monday and the funeral was held at the St Joe Catholic church Wednesday morning at 9:30, father Stork officiating.
Mrs Von Bank has just recently buried her brother, Herman Human, who died of the influenza at Camp McArthur, Texas Oct 20th and his body was brought to St Joseph for burial. He was 26 years old and Mrs Von Bank was his only relative living in this country. His father and one brother are fighting in the Germany army, though he enlisted from Montana to fight for his adopted country. He also leaves four brothers and three sisters in Germany.
