Aug 5, 1915 - Luxembourg Gazette - Bode, Iowa, Friday July 28, 1915 - After a painful illness, but prepared through his religious beliefs, Mr. Johann Von Bank died here at the age of 69. The deceased came from Baichleiden, in Duchy of Luxembourg. In 1869, he came to Luxembourg, Iowa, and three years later moved to St. Joseph, Iowa.
On September 11, 1873, he married Veronica Heiderscheidt. The marriage bore five sons and six daughters: Michel, Johann and Peter, St Joseph, Iowa; Joseph, Sioux City, Iowa; Nick, Hope, N Dakota; Sister M. Ursuline, a Franciscan nun in Dubuque, IA; Mrs. Georg Yackley, Madilia, MN; Mrs. John Driger and Mrs. Joseph Schaller, West Bend, Iowa; Mrs. Joseph Stattelman, Bode, Iowa; Anna died in childhood.
The mourning spouse, who lovingly cared for her husband throughout his illness, along with all the children was in attendance as the faithful husband and loving father passed on into a better world. Also mourning are his brother Henry Von Bank, Buffalo, ND; his sisters Mrs John Thill, West Bend, IA; and Mrs. Jakob Vippert, Canada.
The deceased was buried on July 26th, after the funeral service, in the St Joseph's cemetery. He was a devout Catholic and a long-time reader of the "Luxembourg Gazette". May he rest in peace! We extend our heartfelt sympathies to the mourning family.
