July 24, 1947 - Algona Upper Des Moines - Peter N. Thilges, 73, a lifetime resident of Kossuth county, died at his farm home, four miles northwest of St. Joe, Monday, July 21, after an illness of short duration. He had a chronic heart condition which proved fatal.

He was born Feb. 23, 1874, in Riverdale twp, a son of pioneer parents. May 20, 1902, he was married to Catherine Frideres at St. Joseph church. She preceded her husband in death. To this union were born the following children who survive: Edward of Bode, Alphonse of Irvington, Mrs. Wilfred Schneider of Bode, and Mrs. John Lentsch of Algona.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph's church with burial in St. Joseph's cemetery. Pallbearers were Alfred Reding, Alfred Thilges, Harold Thilges, Frank Thilges, Norbert Frideres, and Harold Frideres.

Six brothers and two sisters also survive: Mike, James, Casper, and Nick, all of Bode; Roney of Tracy, Minn.; Henry of Ottosen; Mrs. Chris Gales of Irvington; and Mrs Jim Reding of Algona. The Hamilton Funeral Home of Algona had charge of the services.
