July 14, 1955 - Algona Upper Des Moines - Funeral services for James Thilges, 68, well-known lifetime resident of St. Joe. will be held Friday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church at 9 a.m. Fr. Leo Schumacher will officiate at the mass and burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Hamilton Funeral Home of Algona is in charge of arrangements.

Mr Thilges died in a Council Bluffs hospital early Wednesday morning following a lingering illness. James, son of Mr and Mrs Nicholas Thilges, was born July 9, 1887 at St. Joe and lived there all his life, where he farmed. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He was never married.

Survivors include three brothers: Mike and Casper, Bode; and Roney, Tracy, Minn.: and two sisters, Anna (Mrs Chris Gales) Irvington; and Mary, Mrs James Reding, Bode.
