June 17, 1971 - Algona Upper Des Moines - Mrs. Christina Thilges, 85, of Algona died at St. Ann Hospital here Monday, June 14. Funeral services were held Thursday at St. Cecelia's Catholic Church at 10 a.m. with Msgr. L.J. Hoffman officiating. McCullough's Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements and interment was at St. Joseph's Cemetery in St. Joe. Pallbearers were Virgil Huberty, Jerome Kellner, Donald Mosser, Thomas Thilges, Harlan Thilges and Dwight Thilges.

Christina Thilges was born June 25, 1885 at Springbrook, Ia., the daughter of Nicolas and Margaretha (Ehleringer) Etringer. She was married to Will Thilges at Springbrook Jan. 29, 1907. The couple farmed in the St. Joe area forty-two years and moved to Algona 22 years ago. Mr. Thilges died in 1963.

Mrs. Thilges is survived by five daughters, Malinda, Mrs. Nick Huberty, Emmetsburg; Hilda, Mrs. Arnold Kellner, Livermore; Alvina, Mrs. Carl Ernst, Whittemore; Martha, Mrs. Ed Mosser, Durant, Okla.; and Iva Lu, Mrs. Earl Stalzer, Renwick; and five sons, Albert, Bode; Raphael, Algona; Charles, Livermore; Martin, Aurora, Colo.; and William, Bode. Other survivors include brother, Dominic Etringer, Maquoketa; 54 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a daughter (Laurena), and six sisters: (Elizabeth Hoff, Katherine Feller, Frances Welbig, Susanna Thilges, Anna Thilges, and Theresa Schaefer).
