Anna Erpelding Thilges 1874-1955

June 11, 1955 - Kossuth County Advance - Services for Mrs. Anna Thilges, 81, were held Saturday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Cecelia's. The Hamilton Funeral Home was in charge with burial in the St. Joe cemetery. Mrs. Thilges died Wednesday night at St. Ann hospital following a week's illness. The Rev. Father Harold Cooper was celebrant at Requiem High Mass, with Fathers Ahman of St. Benedict and Shoemaker of St. Joe, assisiting. Father Kirschbaum, Sioux City, was also present.

Anna Thilges, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Erpelding, was born Feb. 28, 1874 at St. Joe. On Feb. 23, 1897 she was married there to John P. Thilges. The couple moved to Algona in 1930. Mr. Thilges died in 1942. Mrs. Thilges had been living at 307 N. Phillips street.

Children surviving are: Susan (Mrs. Louis Furhmann), Algona; Paul Thilges, Bode; Mary E. Thilges, Algona. Two daughters and a son are deceased. Brothers and sisters surviving are: Eva Erpelding St. Joe; Elizabeth (Mrs. Nick Weydert) Algona; Mrs. Kate Klein, Watkins, Minn., and Peter Erpelding, St. Joe. One grandchild, Paul Thilges, Jr., also survives.

Pallbearers were Alvin Klein, Alvin Erpelding, John Altman, Peter Hermann, Frank Bormann, and Lawrence Thilges. Out-of-town relatives here for the funeral were: Mrs. George Klein, Mrs. Nick Schreiner, Mrs. Chris Schreiber, and Mrs. Jack Kenzer, all of Watkins, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Groetken and family, LeMars; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Freking, Remsen.
