Sept 21, 1944 - West Bend Journal - St. Joe — Funeral services were held in the respect of Jos. Stattelman, 58, well known St. Joe resident, here on Monday morning. He passed away after being unconscious for 57 hours resulting from a colt breaking down a steel gate and hitting him directly on the head. He was immediately rushed to the Fort Dodge Mercy hospital but skilled care proved unsuccessful. He died Friday morning at 4:15.

The services were held Monday morning at 9:00 o'clock at St. Joe where Mr. Stattelman and his family lived steadily for the past thirty-one years. A requiem High Mass was offered with the Reverend Father G. Theobald officiating. An exceptionally large crowd attended. The pall bearers were: Peter Kirsch, Herman Illg, Edwin Stattelman, James Schaller, Johnny VonBank and Harold Origer.

Relatives and friends from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs Henry Stattelman of Clinton, Minn.; Ferdinand Stattelman and F. Schmidt of Milroy, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Ruch of Wheaton, Illinois; Sister M. Ursuline of Sioux City; Peter VonBank of Fort Dodge; Mrs. Nick Gudenburg and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Collins of New Richland, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. J.P. Kirsch of Eagle Grove; Mr. and Mrs. Joe VonBank and son and Mr. and Mrs. Albert VonBank and family of Armstrong; Mr. and Mrs. Tommy VonBank of Bancroft; besides closely located relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

Mr. Stattelman and his wife, the former Rosa VonBank, would have celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary last Sunday. He is survived by his immediate family, Mrs. Stattelman, his son, Frank, and his four daughters: Mrs. Joe Vollmar of Bancroft, Mrs. Peter Nellis of West Bend, and Anita and Bernice. He is also survived by three grandchildren and his brothers and sisters: Ed, Henry, and Ferdinand Stattelman and Mrs. Mike VonBank and Mrs. Will Ruch, besides scores of nieces, nephews and cousins.
