Jan 18, 1949 - Kossuth County Advance (some of this obituary is illegible) - Algona - Peter Schmit, 71, prominent area farmer, died unexpectedly at his home here. He had been in his usual health and had attended business Wednesday.

Mr Schmit was born in Plum Creek township March 14, 1877. When he was 9 years old his parents moved to the St. Joe vicinity and Mr. Schmit had lived in the immediate neighborhood ever since. He resided on an acreage at the edge of the village.

Mr Schmit was married May ?? to Mrs. Sarah Wagner, four children were born Thomas, Cecelia, Donna, and Michael? all at home. Mrs. Schmit survives & there are two step-daughters, a brother Louis Schmit of West Bend; a step son.
