Sept 16, 1947 - Kossuth County Advance - Funeral services were held this morning at 9 o'clock at St. Joseph's church, St. Joe, for Michael Reding, 74, who died Saturday at his home in Livermore. The Rev. Geo. Theobald conducted the funeral mass and burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons Delmar and Donald Reding, James, Herbert and Howard Weydert and Richard Devine. Hamilton's funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Reding was the son of Nicholas and Elizabeth Reding. He was born April 22, 1873, in Kossuth county on a farm near St. Joe. He had a rural school education and on April 5, 1893 he was married at St. Joe to Susan Altman. The couple started home making on a farm four miles north of Livermore and resided there continuously until retirement in 1938 when they moved to a home they bought in Livermore.

They became parents of five children all of whom survive. Mrs. Reding died April 4, 1945. Mr. and Mrs. Reding celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1943. The son Frank now resides on the farm where his parents started their married life.

Surviving children are Mrs. James Weydert, Eastman, Minn.; John B., Irvington; Mrs. John Weydert, Algona; Mrs. Bernard Devine, Woden, and Frank at LuVerne. There are 29 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Surviving also are three full brothers John and Peter, Bode, and James, Algona. Also half sisters and brothers Adam, Rodman; Mrs. Frank Capesius, Algona; George, Ottosen; Mrs. Henry Thilges, Ottosen; Mrs. John Bormann, Bode; Will, Bode; Peter C., Monterey, Minn.; Mrs. Steve Devine, Corwith; Nick, Whittemore; Andrew and Lewis, Algona; Mrs. Matt Kirsch and Mrs. Julius Capesius, Bode; Mrs. Clara Walker, Algona, and Sister Mary Phyllis, Ashton.
