June 21, 1971 - Kossuth County Advance - John B. Reding, 73-year-old retired St. Joe farmer, died suddenly last Thursday. He was stricken at Clear Lake and was taken to Mercy Hospital at Mason City.

Mr. Reding farmed on the same farm near St. Joe for 40 years, retiring in 1960. He had lately been making his home with a son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Don Illg of Algona. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. David J. Hogan will officiate at the final rites and the Hamilton-Wilson Funeral Home will be in charge. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

He was born in Sherman township in Kossuth county Sept. 23, 1897, son of Mike and Susan Reding. He was married to Elizabeth Wagner at St. Joe April 20, 1920 and she preceded him in death Dec. 18, 1965. Five sons and two daughters survive: Marvin, Livermore; Delmar, Algona; Maurice, Irvington; Donald, St. Joe; and Edward, Humboldt; Joice, Mrs. Don Illg, Algona; and Kay Reding, Chicago. There are also 36 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A daughter, Marjorie, preceded him in death in 1962. A brother, Frank Reding, of St. joe survives as well as two sisters, Clara, Mrs. John Weydert, Algona, and Elnora Devine, Crystal Lake.
