August 2, 1945 - Algona Upper Des Moines - A 58-year-old farm laborer, Gregor Putze, dropped dead Tuesday evening at 7. Coming in from the field, Putze got out to open the gate when a heart attack struck. He died immediately.

Putze had been working on the Paul Thilges farm, nine miles southwest of Algona. He came to the United States from Germany in 1926 and has been working in Kossuth county for 15 years. No immediate relatives have been located, although Sheriff A.J. Cogley has contacted a family by that name in Jackson, Minn., who may be distantly related.

Putze was naturalized a few years ago. It has been known for quite a while that his heart was bad. He has worked for many farmers near Whittemore, and south of Algona since coming to Kossuth. Burial probably will be Friday.
