Feb 1, 1968 - Kossuth County Advance - Milford J. Plathe, 44 year old Irvington area farmer died at his home Monday, Jan. 29, following a heart attack. Funeral services were held at 10:30 Thursday morning at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, St. Joe, with Father Leo Schumacher officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery, the Hamilton Funeral Home, Algona, in charge. Pallbearers were Richard Kohlhaas, Richard Mawdsley, Jack Mertz, H.P. Mertz, Max Bartholomew, and Rex Taylor.

Milford John Plathe was born May 2, 1923 at Irvington. His parents were Herman and Justina Geishecker Plathe. He attended St. Joe high school, where he graduated in 1940. On April 23, 1946, he was married to Rita Thul at St. Joe, who survives.

Surviving besides his wife, are five children: Kristine, who attends Clarke college, Dubuque; Kathleen, a student at St. Catherine's College, St. Paul; Darlene, Robert and Jennifer at home. One sister, Mrs. Ted Hilbert, LuVerne, also survives. His parents and one brother are deceased.

Mr. Plathe is a Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, a director of the Irvington Elevator Co., and a member of the Kossuth County Pilots Association. He had lived on the same farm where he was born, south of Irvington, all of his life.
