Nov 18, 1932 - Humboldt Republican - St. Joe - November 16 —Funeral services for Joseph Plathe were held Tuesday morning at nine o'clock from the St. Joseph church. He died Saturday, November 12, at the age of seventy-eight years. Mr. Plathe was born September 27, 1854, in Luxemburg, in Dubuque county, Iowa. In 1881 he married Katherine Lucas of Luxemburg, Iowa, and to this union eight children were born, seven of whom are still living. The children living are: Mrs. K.M. Thilges of Bode, Mrs. Pete Mertz of Ottosen, Herman Plathe of Irvington, Charles Plathe of St Joseph, Barbara Plathe of Detroit, Mich., and Mrs. C.J. Riley of Janesville, Wisconsin. Edward Plathe died August 2, 1922, at the age of twenty-three years. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. John Bergman of Mason City, and Herman Plathe of Granville.

Mr and Mrs Plathe came to Humboldt county in 1895 and moved to Algona in 1919. Since the death of his wife he lived with his children.

Out-of-town people who attended the funeral are Mr. and Mrs. E.J. Riley and sons of Janesville, Wis.; Mrs. John Bergman and Mrs. Anna Steece of Mason City; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Halbur of Halbur, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Diers of Arcadia; Mr. and Mrs. Nick Plathe of Granville; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Grenen of Remsen; and Henry Schenkelburg of Lidderdale, Iowa.
