Aug 9,1922 - Algona Upper Des Moines - Edward Plathe, a son of Mr. and Mrs. H.J. Plathe, died at Navre hospital at Albert Lea, on Wednesday, August 2. His death followed an illness of eight weeks. About that long ago he was operated on for appendicitis and was released from the hospital after twelve days. He seemed recovering for a time but later suffered two strokes of paralysis and had to be operated on again. He never fully recovered from this second operation which is thought to have been the indirect cause of his death.

The young man's parents have been residents of Algona for the past two years. Edward Plathe was born at Bode, Iowa, on December 14, 1898, and lived there until 1920, when his parents moved to Algona and he moved to his fathers farm near New Richland, Minnesota, where he resided until the time of his last illness.

Funeral services were held at the St. Joseph's Catholic church at St. Joe on Saturday August 5. Algona Republican.
