Nov 29, 1935 - Humboldt Republican - Mrs. Kasper Kohlhaas of St. Joe, died Wednesday, November 6, at the Kohlhaas home farm in Sherman township after an illness of six weeks with heart trouble, and hemorrage of the brain, she had gradually improved, till the last week she got another stroke and grew weaker and was confined to her bed.

Eva Mallinger was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Mallinger. She was born in Germany January 6, 1860, and came to this country at the age of 12, with her parents who settled in Keokuk county. At Baden, Iowa, she married Kasper Kohlhaas of Harper, Ia., on May 20, 1881, and they came to Kossuth county to settle in Sherman township. They raised a family of five boys and two daughters. Henry and Deena cared for them during their declining years, Elizabeth preceded her in death 20 years ago, Frank, Phillip Jr., and John of Algona, and Constant K. of Livermore, survive her.

Mr. Kohlhaas died July 16, 1934; two sisters and one brother preceded her in death; one sister Mrs. Margaret Kohlhaas and one brother Frank Mallinger survive her. Burial services were held at St Joseph's church at St. Joe Friday morning at 9:30 and was laid to rest on the family lot. Father Theobald in charge. Pall bearers were John Frankl, Dr. Karl Hoffman, John Altman, John Reding, Eugene McMahon, and John Bormann.

Relatives from a distance were Eugene Yackley family of Downersgrove, Illinois; Mrs. Robert Freund, Scinavia, Illinois: Mr. and Mrs. Peter Wehr, Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose Wehr, Sigourney, and Cathrine Mallinger of Ollie.
