Sept 10, 1930 - Algona Upper Des Moines - In the death of Peter Kirsch on Monday Algona and Kossuth county lost an old and respected citizen. Mr Kirsch died at the Kossuth hospital after an illness of about ten days. The cause of his death was rupture and he had been ailing for a number of years. Mr. Kirsch was one of the large land owners of Kossuth county, accummulating about 1100 acres of land west of St. Joe. Two of his sons are now farming this land, as he moved to Algona in 1920. Mr. Kirsch was noted for his kindliness and integrity and he will be missed by all who knew him.

Peter Kirsch was born December 20, 1851 in Germany and died in Algona September 8, at the age of seventy nine years. When still a young man he came to America and in 1875 he located near Dubuque and helped his brother on a farm there. In 1878 he came to Kossuth county and settled near St Joe. He was married to Katherine Knott. In 1920 the family moved to Algona.

Besides the wife, three sons are left to mourn. They are Matt & John who are farming the land near St. Joe; and Tony, who is proprietor of a laundry in Algona. One sister, Mrs. Matt Kellner of St. Joe and eleven grandchildren also survive. Burial was held this morning at nine o'clock at St. Cecelia's Catholic church in Algona with Father T.J, Davern officiating. Burial was in the St. Joe cemetery.
