Edward Illg 1865-1937

ILLG, ZELLER, DECKER, THILGES, EHLRINGER

Nov 26, 1937 - Humboldt Republican - St Joe - Edward Illg passed away at his home in Currie, Minn., Nov. 18, 1937, at the age of 73 years, one month after an illness of several months. He was born at Wheaton, Illinois, Oct 18, 1865, the oldest son of Joseph and Mary Illg.

At the age of 20 he moved with his parents to the Fred Illg farm northwest of St. Joe. The following year he married Susan Zeller and four children were born to this union. Mrs. Illg died August 24, 1907. Two years later he married Mrs. Margaret Decker. In 1915 he moved with his family to a farm near Currie, Minnesota, where he stayed until 1923 when he moved to the town of Currie where he lived until his death.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Margaret Illg, three children, Mrs. Roney Thilges, Philip, and Jake Illg and three step-children, Mrs. Math Ehlringer, John and Frank Decker and two brothers, George and Fred Illg, ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a large number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends here and in Minnesota.

One son, Nicholas preceded him in death. Father Frank Illg, a nephew of the deceased, read the requiem high mass at 8:30 a.m. Monday in the Catholic church in Currie, Minn. On Monday afternoon at two o'clock burial took place in St Joseph's Catholic cemetery here with Father Illg in charge. Pall bearers were six nephews, Raymond, Vincent, Adolph, Gephart, Aloysius and Charles Illg, all sons of the late B. Illg.

Those from a distance who accompanied the remains to St. Joe were: his widow, Mrs. Margaret Illg, Mr. and Mrs. Roney Thilges and daughter, Marie, Mr. and Mrs. Philip Illg, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Illg and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Math Ehlringer and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Decker and John Decker, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Illg, Mr. and Mrs. Gephart Illg, Raymond, Vincent, Aloysius and Charles Illg, George Krucher, and Mrs. Caron, all from Minnesota, Father Frank Illg from Otto, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Nagel, Mrs. John Hahn and Mrs. Jake Hahn all from Wheaton, Illinois, and Joe Heimke and John Tebbe from Springbrook, Iowa.
