Dec 30, 1910 - Algona Courier - On Monday night last occurred death of Mrs. Mary Goeders, an old and respected resident of this county. She was the mother of our townsman, John Goeders, and of Theodore and Barney Goeders of this county.

Her maiden name was Mary Urhausen, and her birth place Luxemburg, Germany. She was born in 1830, and in 1852 was married to John Goeders. The young couple came to America in 1864 and settled in Dubuque county and in 1869 they moved to Kossuth county and bought the farm upon which she lived to the end. Her husband died about seventeen years ago.

Their family consisted of nine children, eight of whom are living. They are John of Algona, Nicholas of Cylinder, Sebastian of Oklahoma, Theodore of Irvington and Barney of Riverdale, Mary of Cylinder, Annie or Mrs. John Capesius with whom she lived, and Katie of Alton, Iowa.

Mrs. Goeders had been a great sufferer for some time with dropsy and other complications, but she bore her trials with Christian fortitude. The burial took place Thursday, at the St. Joe church and the remains laid to rest in the St. Joe cemetery beside those of her husband. Peace to her spirit!
