Dec 25, 1908 - Algona Courier - Mrs. Barney Goeders of East Irvington died at her late residence last Friday evening. Her disease was consumption and she had been a sufferer from it for more than a year, and was bedfast since September. All was done for her that loving hands could do, but no human power could stay the progress of the dreaded disease.

Mrs. Goeders' maiden name was Elizabeth Carey. She was born at Newburg, Wisconsin, and two years ago the 3rd of October last she was married to Mr. Goeders in Milwaukee. She was about 42 years of age at her death. The funeral took place Monday and the remains were laid to rest in the St. Joe cemetery, near the old home of the Goeders family. Mr. Goeders has the sympathy of many friends in his bereavement.

Dec 23, 1908 - Upper Des Moines Republican - Mrs. Barney Goeders, who for a long time back has been fighting against pulmonary tuberculosis, gave up the struggle at an early hour Saturday morning, December 11, and passed out of her temporal home eight or nine miles southeast of this city into the mansion of her future abiding place.

Mrs. Lizzie Kuhle Goeders was born in Germany May 1st, 1867. At the time of her marriage to Barney Goeders, two years ago last October, she was living with her mother in Wisconsin. She was a woman much admired by neighbors and associates, but her short married career has been of great concern to her friends, because of the dread plague which had fastened itself upon her and could not be shaken off.

Her mother was with her during her final days and three sisters were here at the final services and burial. The funeral was held Monday morning from the St. Joe church, Rev. Father Renneule performing the last sad rites as they laid her fragile body in its last resting place.
