Nov 7, 1957 - Algona Upper Des Moines - Funeral services for Benedict J. Gisch, 64, of Livermore, a resident of this area for 43 years, were held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Sacred Heart church at Livermore with Fr. P.M. Sturm officiating. Burial was in the St. Joe cemetery and Hamilton Funeral Home of Algona was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Bernard and Richard Gisch; Alvin and John Lenertz, Ronald Zeimet and Garry Eisenbarth. Mr Gisch died early Sunday, Nov. 3, at St. Ann hospital where he had been a patient for the past 11 days. He succumbed to a heart condition.

Benedict J. Gisch, son of Joseph and Caroline Gisch, was born Feb. 20, 1893, in Austria and came to Iowa at the age of 19. He was later married to Clara Lenertz at St. Joe in 1914. His wife preceded him in death in 1930. He farmed for many years prior to his retirement.

Three sons, Andrew Gisch, West Bend; Wilfred Gisch, Myrtle, Minn.; and Paul Gisch, Hazelgreen, Wisc.; seven daughters, Genevieve (Mrs Ray Neuroth), West Bend; Marie (Mrs Henry Zeimet) Bode; Luella (Mrs Ronald Collins), Lone Rock; Wilma (Mrs Clarence Eisenbarth), Livermore; Sister Mary Marcellita Chicago; Dorothy (Mrs Wilfred Zeimet), Oceanside, Calif.; and Dolores (Mrs Paul Engel), Sioux City; and 34 grandchildren, survive. Two brothers, Lawrence Gisch, Algona, and Joe Gisch, Mountain Lake, Minn., and several sisters in Austria.
